Virtual Innovative Teaching and Technology Summit 2010

The School District of Escambia County’s Information Technology Department will be hosting its Innovative Teaching and Technology Summit on April 30th and May 1st. Virtual events hosted at SLEEC Island in Second Life will coincide throughout the ITTS schedule. Friday evening, during the opening session, teachers from Project Based Learning schools and Technology Learning Groups will showcase completed student projects at the Hall Center, while teachers who participated in the virtual PBL class will share their projects at SLEEC Island. Come interact with these teachers using computers in the Mac Lab at the Hall Center, or from your home using your own account. FCITL Innovative Principal of the Year 2010 Finalist

  Mrs. Lesa Morgan, Principal of West Florida High School of Advanced Technology has been selected as a finalist (one of the top three) for the Florida Council of Instructional Technology Leaders (FCITL) Innovative Principal of the Year 2010 Award. The winner this year will be announced on January 13th at an awards luncheon in Orlando.

The Florida Council of Instructional Technology Leaders (FCITL) Educational Technology Leadership Award: Innovative Principal of the Year program is designed to highlight excellent efforts of school-based principals within our Florida Districts that have demonstrated successful program implementations utilizing technology to further student achievement. Student achievement is defined as it relates to any number of measures (FCAT preparation, student/teacher technology literacy, classroom technology integration, bridging the digital divide, etc.).

Previous finalists  from Escambia County have been: Aggie Bauer, (Cordova Park), Janet Riddle (Brentwood Elementary) and Susan Berry (Escambia Westgate).

Online Technology Infused Project Based Learning Course

  The workshop titled Technology Infused Project Based Learning is being offered in ERO to all teachers as an online course using the virtual reality site SLEEC (Second Life Educators of Escambia County) as the main meeting place. This workshop is designed to provide professional development in the infusion of technology as part of a project based learning approach to instruction that results in engaging, standards-focused projects. Participants will need access to a fairly robust computer in order to participate in this online workshop. If you are interested in this online course, log in to ERO and request permission to participate.

RSS feed? What is an RSS feed?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is used to refer to webfeeds in general.  RSS feeds are used to publish frequently updated items such as: blogs, news, audio and/or video broadcasts in a standardized format.  Many refer to the audio and video broadcasts as a podcast. To note an RSS feed on a webpage, most utilize the RSS icon.  RSS Feed icon image
